Fees & Rebates
At Allys Johnson Psychology, we believe in providing an affordable service for clients with competitive fees.Â
Medicare/Private
We offer Medicare rebates for clients with a valid Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from their GP.
After full payment for the session, we process the Medicare rebate on your behalf, allowing you to receive the rebate directly into your nominated bank account.

For clients with private health insurance, we provide a receipt after full payment, which you can then submit to your insurance provider to claim your rebate. Please check with your insurer to confirm the details of your coverage.

FAQ's
How many Medicare rebates can I get per year?
Under the Medicare Better Access initiative, you can receive rebates for up to 10 individual therapy sessions per calendar year. Additionally, you may be eligible for up to 10 group therapy sessions per calendar year. Your GP can provide more information about your eligibility and assist with the necessary referrals.
Will I be charged for assessment reports?
Yes, there is a fee for the preparation of assessment reports. The cost varies based on the complexity and length of the report. We will provide a detailed quote for the report after the initial assessment. This fee covers the time spent analyzing the assessment results and compiling the comprehensive report.
How long will my treatment take?
The length of treatment varies based on individual needs and goals. Some clients may require only a few sessions to address specific issues, while others might benefit from longer-term therapy. During your initial sessions, we will work with you to develop a tailored treatment plan and provide an estimate of the duration based on your specific circumstances.
What are the recommended fees for Psychology?
The Australian Association of Psychologists Inc. (AAPi) and the Australian Psychological Society (APS) both provide recommended fee schedules for psychological services. These recommended fees are based on the extensive training and expertise required for psychological practice.
Â
The current recommended fee is between $311-$315 per hour. Our fees are set to ensure accessibility and reflect the quality of care provided.
Do you bulk bill?
We do not offer bulk billing services. However, we process Medicare rebates on your behalf after full payment for the session, which can help reduce your out-of-pocket expenses. If you have any concerns about the cost of services, please discuss them with us, and we will do our best to assist you.
Do Medicare Rebates apply to Psychological Assessments?
Yes, Medicare rebates can apply for some parts of your assessment and/or for some individuals under 25 years if they meet eligibility criteria. Please get in touch if you would like further information
Cancellation Policy
A late cancelled appointment is a loss to three people:
-
The client who is delaying their therapy progress
-
Another client who has been sitting on the waiting list to see the psychologist urgently
-
The psychologist who spent the morning preparing for the session

We require a minimum of 48 hours' notice for cancellations. If a session is canceled with less than 48 hours' notice, a cancellation fee will be charged. This policy ensures that we can offer appointment slots to other clients in need.
